In my last blog post, I spoke about trying to find a balance between the casual look I have become so comfortable in and the formal look that I absolutely love! So when I came across the cargo pants trend, I knew there had to be a way to find a great blend between both!
I remember cargo pants from the 90s and I totally loved them! Of course, apart from the fact that they looked totally cool, those extra pockets were a no-brainer! So when I discovered they were back, it was easy to gravitate towards that familiar look!
But before we go into the looks, let’s see what makes cargo pants so great and why people (namely people like me 😁) love them so much!
Without delving too much into its history, cargo pants were originally designed as military wear to accommodate lots of pockets for carrying essential items in battle. Of course, just like the Camo trend, they transitioned from the battlefield into mainstream fashion. Reaching a peak in the 1990s, they’ve now recently made a fashion comeback!
SO why the comeback? And why now?

I initially thought they were mostly for casual looks but when Jummy and I started playing around with the looks for this article. I realized that they were incredibly versatile. Thank goodness for AI. It saved us a lot of stress (well… not counting the endless prompts… 🥵) and offered a wide range of styling possibilities.
Talk about effortlessly blurring the line between casual, semi-formal and, dare I say, even office wear. They can be dressed up or down, making them suitable to various occasions and settings.
So whether you want a laid-back casual look or a more polished and fashionable ensemble, cargo pants can adapt to your style needs. Pair them with a crisp shirt and accessories to elevate your look for a smart-casual event or with a graphic tee and sneakers for that laid-back yet stylish look.

I actually like these distressed denim cargo pants and to be honest, I haven’t actually seen anyone wearing these. But I love this version we came up with using AI and it is definitely something I’d love to try out – maybe not this baggy though…
And yet again… those pockets! Carrying a purse can be such a bother. So if my phone, keys, and lip balm can fit snugly, then why not?! Keeps my hands free and takes the weight off my shoulders and back as well!

When we think of officewear, the first thing that jumps to mind is fashion snoozefest! BUT with the right combinations, you can bring some serious style to your workwear. Let’s dive in!

Cargo pants don’t have to be basic. Go for bold and bright colors that scream confidence! However, for me, I’ll say No to neons and stick with more classic colors, not necessarily just neutrals. But that’s just me. I think the brightest I’ll go is this mustard! And trust me, I wouldn’t have even dared mustard if we hadn’t churned up this visual. If you do decide to be a bit fiercer and do some rouge red, just remember to balance the boldness with more neutral pieces on top to keep the look office-friendly.
2. Crop It Like It’s Hot
I must say I’ve always been one for classic cut pants but I am totally loving showing off these ankles and I’ll definitely try them out! So if you liek that style too, you can also opt for cropped cargo pants to bring some edge to your office style. Pair them with some killer ankle boots or sneak in some sneakers for that effortlessly cool business casual or dress-down Friday vibe.
3. Mix, Match & Accessorize!
